Everybody and their dog has online business now. Online businesses can not just put up a website and people will come and they will make money. The old ? build it and they will come theory doesn?t work as easily on the web. There is a lot of competition and at the same time a lot of potential customers. In this article we will talk about the big three S?s of website promotion. They are search engine optimization, search engine marketing, site promotion.

Here we will talk about the difference between them and advantages and disadvantages of each. To start ? Internet marketing is like an all in one word of marketing online. Whether you are marketing a business, a website, or a product. Internet Marketing is different strategies that people use to market themselves or whatever online. Some of the strategies are SEO ( Search engine Optimization), Search Engine Optimization and website promotion are some of the terms we here all the time and really wonder what is the difference. Some other types of Internet Marketing strategies are email marketing, or online copywriters

Let?s start with a definition of Search Engine Optimization. SEO is the act of changing or optimizing a website and its pages to enable the search engines to rank you higher. Some of the things included in SEO is link building, keyword research, optimizing on page and others.

Search Engine Marketing ( SEM) is basically the act of marketing a website or online business via search engines. A variety of techniques can be used including organic listings, Google Ad words, PPC and others.

Site Promotion is a very commonly used word also in the world of Internet Marketing. Website promotion is just about the same as Internet marketing ? it includes a wide variety of different tactics and strategies. Some of those tactics include SEO, SEM, content development, link building and many others.

The thing to really take note of here is that almost all of these popular terms are interchangeable and people used them that way. One other term, I would like to mention is SEA. Search Engine Advertising is just that paying for advertising on the web. Using tactics such as Google Ad words, MSNAd Center and Yahoo Search, it also includes paying for links or display ads on other websites and directories.

This is basically the cut and dry of it of Internet Marketing. Now when others are talking about SEO,SEM and SEA, you won?t look so bewildered!
