VoIP Services for Better Customer Care - Business/Finance

Better customer service is a sure fire way to increase your bottom line and this could be attained though the help of VoIP services.

Customers are the number one reason why companies survive in the business industry. That is why companies, especially the large ones, spend a lot on luxurious advertising and marketing strategies. Usually, they hire experts to produce effective TV and radio commercials. Aside from these, they also do advertising through print media and through websites and social networking sites. However, starting small and medium businesses (SMBs) cannot afford these luxuries. Their capital or budget is very limited and must be well distributed to the different aspects and needs of the business.

One aspect that businesses can actually save cost and also use as a marketing tool is the communications system. With the traditional phone system, businesses have to allocate a relatively large part of the capital for it. Aside from the expenses, the traditional system has limitations that somehow slow down the growth of any business. But now that there are technological tools that can enhance your communications system, there are now more efficient operations of businesses. But more than that, these enhancements actually contributes to the improvement of customer service. This is made possible with the advent of Voice over Internet Protocol or VoIP services. After some years, there are now numerous VoIP providers. You VoIP provider offers various services that have a lot of features very useful to any business.

What are VoIP services that particularly improve the quality of customer service?

? Toll free numbers. The moment customers see your numbers printed on brochures or pamphlets or on TV commercials, they will be attracted to contact you. But if it is not a toll free number, they might hesitate to make a call. So, offering them customer services such as calls that are free of charge will entice them to inquire about your product or service and might further lead to an order. VoIP services such as toll free numbers are part of the various plans of the best VoIP providers. Usually, these numbers are offered at very affordable rates. You can also record answers for commonly asked questions. This strategy saves you time and lets your employees do other important tasks. It also makes your customer service more efficient.

? Voicemail and auto-receptionist. There are times that a lot of callers simultaneously make their calls. In situations like these, voicemails and the auto-receptionist feature can keep the callers from waiting. You can record voicemails containing company greetings and instructions the caller can follow while waiting. The caller can then be redirected to the appropriate department or employee later on. This is a common VoIP service, so you should expect cheaper rates.

? Reliable customer service. If a problem arises, it can interrupt the business operation if you are using the traditional phone system. But with VoIP service, you can be sure that whenever customers inquire, they will always be addressed. The VoIP providers has a team of technicians that can take care of the troubleshooting for you.

Maintaining an excellent and quality customer service is necessary for every business company. With this, it is better to employ the help of VoIP services than be limited and weighed down by the traditional system.

Scientists Make Huge Breast Cancer Breakthroughs | In Flex We Trust

Scientists have made huge breast cancer breakthroughs including mapping 21 cancer codes and discovering how the disease evolves. These breakthroughs are critical for not only diagnosis of cancer but treating it as well. Read more below.

Scientists have mapped the complete genetic codes of 21 breast cancers and created a catalogue of the mutations that accumulate in breast cells, raising hopes that the disease may be able to be spotted earlier and treated more effectively in future.

The research, the first of its kind, untangles the genetic history of how cancer evolves, allowing scientists to identify mutational patterns that fuel the growth of breast tumours, and start to work out the processes behind them.

?These findings have implications for our understanding of how breast cancers develop over the decades before diagnosis in adults and might help to find possible targets for improved diagnosis or therapeutic intervention in the future,? said Mike Stratton, who led the research team.

Breast cancer kills more than 450,000 women a year worldwide and is the most common cancer among women, accounting for 16 percent of all cases, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO).

A study last year by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation in the United States found that global breast cancer cases have more than doubled in just three decades, from 641,000 cases in 1980 to 1.6 million cases in 2010 ? a pace that far exceeds global population growth.

?This is the first time we?ve been able to delve fully into breast cancer genomes in such a thorough way,? said Peter Campbell, head of cancer genetics and genomics at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge, where the studies were led.

The work had given scientists ?a full panoramic view of the cancer genome? and helped them identify ?mutational patterns rather than individual mutations in specific genes?, he added.

DNA MUTATIONS

?We?ve known for many years now that all cancers are due to abnormalities of DNA?that occur in every single cell of the body over the course of a lifetime,? said Stratton.

?But although we?ve known that, it?s remarkable how rudimentary our knowledge is about what the processes are that cause these abnormalities, these mutations in our DNA.?

Stratton?s team sequenced the genomes of the 21 breast cancers and catalogued all the mutations. They found five major processes that cause one letter of code to be changed to another letter. Genetic code comes in four DNA letters, A,C,G and T.

Stratton said one of the most exciting findings was that one of these processes is characterised by small pockets of massively mutated regions of the genome.

This sudden ?storm? of mutations is often seen in breast cancers, he explained in an audio briefing.

While his team don?t fully understand the process behind these storms, they think it may be down to components of the cell whose normal function is to edit, or mutate, DNA.

?What we believe?is that sometimes in normal cells?this stops functioning properly and over-functions. It causes too many mutations and the accumulation of those mutations pushes the cell along the line to become cancer.?

The team found that these and other mutations accumulate in breast cells over many years, initially slowly, but picking up greater momentum as genetic damage builds up.

By the time the breast cancers are large enough to be diagnosed, they are made up of a number of genetically related families of cells, with one family dominating the cancer, Stratton explained.

Mark Walport, director of the Wellcome Trust which helped fund the work, said the results showed how scientists are starting to see the landscape of mutations in breast cancer ?in something approaching its full complexity?.

?As this work continues, we can hope to understand how breast cancer develops and thus how it might be treated more effectively,? he said in a statement. (Editing by Andrew Osborn)

Nasdaq glitch confuses investors of Facebook IPO

(AP) ? Some investors who thought they had bought Facebook shares at the opening of trading were left without knowing for hours whether they had received the shares.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is looking into the glitches in the trading of Facebook's initial public offering around the time of its scheduled debut Friday on the Nasdaq Stock Market.

The glitches caused traders problems changing and canceling their orders. Nasdaq said around noon that it was "investigating an issue in delivering trade execution messages" for Facebook stock.

The SEC will review the incident with Nasdaq "to determine its cause and steps that will be taken to address it," agency spokesman John Nester said.

Technical glitches at the Nasdaq Stock Market had already delayed the trading of Facebook's stock by half an hour. The stock, which was expected to start trading at 11 am, opened at 11:32 a.m. at $42.05 and ended the day at $38.23.

Joseph Saluzzi, co-founder of broker Themis Trading, said it's understandable that a delay at the opening might occur with a large IPO like Facebook's. "The problem is when people don't know if they had bought or sold a certain number of shares and that affects how people manage risk," Saluzzi said.

Brokers who might have wanted to sell after the IPO was priced weren't sure if they had received a piece of the highly-anticipated offering from the online social networking phenomenon.

Nasdaq didn't respond to requests for comment, but the exchange posted a message on one of its websites telling investors who had problems buying or selling Facebook stock between 11:11 and 11:30 a.m. to call Nasdaq before 5 p.m. with their order information.

"Our intention is to reach resolution of those trades today through an offline matching process," Nasdaq said in a comment posted on its website. "If at the end of that process, a firm continues to have questions or concerns, the firm needs to submit a formal accommodation request to us through the normal channels."

In March, there was a far worse technical foul-up at the intended IPO of BATS Global Markets Inc., a Kansas-based company that competes with Nasdaq Stock Market and the New York Stock Exchange in offering stock trading services.

BATS tried to list its stock on its own trading systems, but a series of snafus prevented the stock from ever opening for trading. The company wound up canceling its IPO and its CEO, Joe Ratterman, issued a public apology.

Reports: HP poised to eliminate up to 30,000 jobs

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? Hewlett-Packard is poised to eliminate as many as 30,000 jobs to compensate for dwindling demand for personal computers as more people connect to the Internet on smartphones and tablets, according to reports published Thursday.

The looming cuts cited by Bloomberg News and the technology blog All Things D would trim as much as 9 percent of HP's workforce, based on the 349,600 people employed by the Palo Alto, Calif., company as of last October. A breakdown on HP's website listed 324,600 employees, but company spokesman Michael Thacker said the information was wrong. He pointed to the October figure listed in HP's annual report as the most accurate head count.

Bloomberg News says HP is mulling 25,000 job cuts. All Things D, which is affiliated with The Wall Street Journal, estimates the purge will jettison 30,000 jobs. Both reports cited unnamed people familiar with HP's plans.

Thacker declined to comment on the reports.

The job cuts could be announced next Wednesday, when HP is scheduled to report its quarterly earnings.

Those results are expected to show that HP, the world's largest maker of PCs and printers, is still struggling to adapt to a technological shift that is enabling more computing tasks to be completed on smartphones and tablet computers such as Apple Inc.'s hot-selling iPad.

The trend has been crimping HP's sales. Analysts predict HP's revenue for its current fiscal year ending in October will total $122 billion, down 4 percent from $127 billion last year.

If HP trims its payroll by at least 18,000 workers, the company could save more than $1 billion annually, according to ISI Group analyst Brian Marshall.

If it occurs, the purge would be the most dramatic step taken so far by HP CEO Meg Whitman, who took the job last September after the company abruptly ended the 11-month reign of her predecessor, Leo Apotheker.

Whitman told analysts that she inherited such a messy situation that it may take several years for the company to bounce back. HP is trying to lift its stock price back to where it was nearly two years ago before the company demanded the resignation of another CEO, Mark Hurd, who was widely respected on Wall Street. Hurd stepped down in August 2010 amid questions about his relationship with an HP marketing contractor.

HP's shares are worth half as much as they were before Hurd's departure. The stock gained 3 cents Thursday to close at $22.03.

Whitman has said she wants to increase spending on research and development to spur more innovation at HP. The company cut deeply into its research-and-development budget while Hurd was CEO. Whitman has indicated that she would reduce expenses in other areas so she can funnel more money into research and development.

Catholic University Drops Student Insurance ? Says Costs Will ...

Back in 2009 and 2010 Barack Obama repeatedly promised Americans,

?If you like your plan, you will be able to keep your plan.?

But after the bill was rammed through Congress and signed into law Barack Obama immediately started to backtrack.

Yesterday, Franciscan University of Steubenville announced it would discontinue its student plan. The university said Obamacare would double the costs for students.
Todd Starnes reported:

The Franciscan University of Steubenville has announced it will drop health insurance coverage for students because the cost of the plan is expected to double under Obamacare. The university also took issue with a federal mandate that their insurance plan provide free birth control.

The small Catholic school in Ohio posted a statement on their website stating they ?will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life.?

The university told Fox News that in addition to dropping its student insurance coverage, it will no longer require students to carry insurance. The university said it would maintain their current health insurance coverage for employees.

?This is putting people in a position where they are having to choose between their faith and their morality ? and now an unjust cost,? said Mike Hernon, vice president of advancement. ?These sorts of regulations from the government are forcing our hand in a way that?s really wrong.?

Hernon said students must have insurance ? either through their parent?s policy or through the university?s basic plan. The plan currently costs approximately $600 per year. However, Hernon said their health care provider informed them that under Obamacare, the policy would double in price to $1,200 and the following year it would triple.

?We couldn?t believe the price (increase),? he told Fox News. ?We had them go back and reconfirm it. They said it was dictated by coverage limits that were released by the Obama administration.?

?At the end of the day, it?s the students who are hurt by this,? he said.

Hat Tip Gini

For the record? Destroying the private health insurance industry was always the goal.

Arlington Home Improvement Incentive Program (AHIIP)

?There is no denying the uncompromising dedication that Arlington Texas has to preserve and protect the beauty and future success of the city. There are numerous Arlington programs and initiatives that have the sole purpose of meeting these rather admirable goals. On such program that deserves to be mentioned is the Arlington Home Improvement Incentive Program (AHIIP).

The stated purpose of this program is simple and to the point, ?To create an incentive for homeowners to make property improvements, to invest in neighborhood re-invigoration, and increase residential property values?. This is a great benefit for homeowners in the pre-determined zones in the city since homes in these areas may be in need of updating or repairs.

?There are certain eligibility criteria that applicants for the program must meet including a minimum of $20k in planned improvements. Of course the city?s Housing Authority has to approve the applicant and issue funds to them for the improvements. Qualified individuals will be eligible to receive up to ?10 times the amount of their increased City property taxes?. This is definitely worthwhile to homeowners that are planning to make improvements on their homes anyway and will certainly peak the interest of other homeowners to find out is they qualify. More in-depth information can be found on the AHIIP Fact Sheet.? Please go to Arlington Texas Homes for more information.

Twitter adopts Do-Not-Track privacy option

3 hrs.

Twitter will honor requests from users who do not want their online behavior tracked, the company said on Thursday, in contrast with Web companies such Google and Facebook whose business models rely heavily on collecting user data.

Twitter said it will officially support "Do Not Track," a standardized privacy initiative that has been heavily promoted by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, online privacy advocates and Mozilla, the non-profit developer of the Firefox Web browser.

Some browsers, including Firefox, Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Apple's Safari, include a "Do Not Track" option that sends a line of code to websites indicating the user does not want to be tracked. But under current regulations, it is up to the website to honor the requests.

Google has said it will implement a "Do Not Track" feature in its Chrome browser later this year.

The "Do Not Track" announcement also coincides with Twitter's recent push to provide a more personalized service. Twitter recommends "tailored suggestions" based on a user's Web surfing history, but does not use the data for any other purpose, the company said on Thursday.

"As always, we are committed to providing you with simple and meaningful choices about the information we collect to improve your Twitter experience," Twitter's Director, Growth and International, Othman Laraki, said in a blog post on Thursday. "For those who don't want to tailor Twitter, we offer ways to turn off this collection."

Twitter's support for the initiative was first announced on Thursday by Ed Felten, the FTC's Chief Technology Officer, during a panel in New York. The microblogging site later confirmed Felten's statement, adding in a Tweet: "We applaud the FTC's leadership on DNT."

Mozilla praised Twitter's move in a blog post and noted that adoption rates for "Do Not Track" have risen steadily, to 8.6 percent of desktop users and 19 percent of mobile users.

"We're excited that Twitter now supports Do Not Track and global user adoption rates continue to increase, which signifies a big step forward for Do Not Track and the Web," Mozilla said.

Twitter's decision to get onboard with "Do Not Track" represents something of a balancing act for the six-year-old company, which has been closely scrutinized on how it can generate enough revenue to justify its multibillion-dollar valuation.

Online tracking through bits of code embedded in websites known as "cookies" underpins the business models for many Internet companies.

Facebook, due to go public on Friday in the largest-ever U.S. IPO, has been valued at $104 billion, partially by investors who believe it can offer advertisers a platform for highly targeted ads based on perceived user interests. Google similarly generates billions annually by targeting ads based on what a user is searching for.

Major online destinations that have endorsed "Do Not Track" include Yahoo, which said in March it would allow consumers "to express their ad targeting preferences to Yahoo" beginning this summer.?
